Privacy Statement in connection with the

Huawei Innovation Workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Cyber-Security

 

This notice explains how Huawei Munich Research Center, a part of Huawei Technologies Duesseldorf GmbH, (hereinafter “Huawei”, “we”, “us”, “our”), the organizer of the 1st online Huawei Innovation Workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Cyber-Security on 23rd of July 2021 (hereinafter “Conference”), may use the personal data you disclose to it.

For the purposes of data protection legislation, we will be the controller of the personal data collected by it. Your personal data generally will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy accessible at https://www.huawei.com/en/privacy-policy. However, the personal data collected specifically in connection with the Conference will be dealt with, in particular, as set out below.

 

1. THE DATA WE COLLECT

We may collect the following types of personal data:

  • Contact details: Your name, email address, telephone number and address.
  • Identification information: We may need your video conferencing user account name or

other form of identification to organise your participation in the Conference.

  • Other personal data: Other data may include short introduction about your professional

background and experience (education/employment history, current and previous research

projects and publications, etc.), affiliation, your image and voice during live web-streaming, photography taken during the Conference.
 

2. SOURCES WE COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA FROM

We will collect personal data from a number of sources. These may include the following:

  • Directly from you: Your name, email address, telephone number, address, user account

name or other form of identification, short introduction about your professional background

and experience, affiliation.

  • Produced by Huawei (e.g. audio recording, video recording and photography taken during the Conference).

If you are providing data regarding other individuals to us:

  • It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the right to provide the data to us; and
  • They have a right to know and to be aware of what personal data we hold about them, how

we collect it and how we use and may share that data. Please share this privacy notice with them.

 

3. WHAT WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA FOR

The table below describes the main purposes for which we process your personal data, the categories of your data involved. Which will apply will depend upon your interactions with us.

4. LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA

 

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data with regards to the Conference is your consent, meaning your explicit acceptance of this Privacy Statement.

  • When you have given us your consent to use your personal information in a particular

manner, you have the right to withdraw this consent at any time. Please note, however, that the withdrawal of your consent will not affect any use of the information made before you withdrew your consent, nor does it affect any data processing based on another justification other than your consent.

  • We do not use personal data in connection with the data processing operations described in this Privacy Statement for automated decision-making.

 

 

5. WHO YOUR PERSONAL DATA IS SHARED WITH

 

5.1 We may share your personal data with the affiliated companies of Huawei group: Employees from all the Huawei affiliated companies may get access to your personal data for the purposes mentioned in clause 3.

 

5.2 Your personal data mentioned in clause 1 may be further shared with our live streaming service provider who has been appointed as data processor to perform services on our behalf. The respective service provider will be provided with your personal data only as necessary to perform such services on our behalf.

5.3 Furthermore, some of your personal data, in particular your photo, affiliation and short introduction about your professional background and experience (education/employment history, current and previous research projects and publications, etc.), may be published on the website of the Conference, and thus made available to the public for the purpose defined in clause 3.

 

6. TRANSFERRING YOUR PERSONAL DATA INTERNATIONALLY

Huawei is a global company, which means we will transfer your personal data to our affiliated companies, some of which are outside EU. Huawei will ensure that your data is adequately protected by all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and will take action to ensure that the data we have collected will be processed in compliance with this Privacy Statement and with applicable data protection laws.

 

7. HOW LONG IS THE PERSONAL DATA KEPT FOR

We will keep your personal data for a period of 12 months. Once this period had expired, we will delete your personal data.

Huawei takes the security of personal data seriously. We take appropriate physical, organizational, and technical measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access or use, improper disclosure, tampering, destruction, or loss.

8. YOUR RIGHTS

You may exercise your data subject rights, including the right to be informed, the right of access, the

right to rectification, the right to deletion, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object and also rights around automated decision making and profiling as well as your right to revoke your consent to the processing of your personal data at any time. 9. EFFECTIVE DATE

This Privacy Statement shall come into force on the date you give your consent by checking “AGREE” checkbox on the registration form and submitting it.
